I love super simple tasty recipes - especially when they are in the one dish and I don't have to worry about them until they are done. This recipe was well received in our house and is delicious with some creamy mash and green veg.
1. Preheat oven to 180.
2. In a casserole dish, add 1 tbsp oil and brown the meat in small batches and remove.
3. Add remaining oil to pan and sauté onions for two minutes then add garlic cooking for another minute. Don't let the garlic burn.
4. Add flour, sugar, stock, stout, mustard, ground cloves, thyme, some salt and lots of black pepper and bring to the boil. Add the meat back in along with the carrots.
5. Cook for 1.5 hours
